Priscilla's Story

priscillaI used to live in a homeless hostel and I was desperately unhappy. I had pretty much got to the point where I just believed life would never get any better but Young Women’s Trust were a beacon of light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that my Young Women’s Trust coach helped to transform my outlook on life. I already had all the skills to succeed, but it was encouraging to have someone to help me realise that; someone patient and understanding like my coach. My coach reminded me that I am a capable, strong woman and that I could do anything I put my mind to.

Fast forward to now and I have just finished a traineeship at Young Women’s Trust. I also organise events for young people where they can freely express their opinions and learn life skills. I support other young women by volunteering for Young Women’s Trust and I run my own bakery business, which I have built from scratch by engaging and influencing people on social media. The Young Women's Trust have been absolutely brilliant and I will always be grateful for the opportunities and empowerment they have given me.

Winning this award means so much to me. I try to positively influence and inspire young people wherever I go and so it's an honour to win the Influencer Award. I am so happy.
