Young Women’s Trust celebrates £2,500 gift from The Patron’s Fund

Young Women’s Trust has received £2,500 from The Patron’s Fund, the charitable fund set up to acknowledge the work of the charitable organisations for which Her Majesty, The Queen acts as a Patron, to support its work with young women in England and Wales. The gift comes on the occasion of Her Majesty, The Queen’s 90th birthday.

Around £750,000 is available to distribute between nearly 300 charities and other organisations in the UK and the Commonwealth. The Fund received generous donations from a range of supporters; including individual donors, businesses, schools, community groups and the proceeds from The Patron’s Lunch, the event on the Mall last June.

Young Women’s Trust supports and represents women aged 16-30 struggling to live on low or no pay in England and Wales and who are at risk of being trapped in poverty. The charity offers direct services to support young women into work and campaigns for fair financial futures.

Young Women’s Trust chief executive Dr Carole Easton OBE said:

“We are delighted to have The Queen as our Patron. This gift will enable Young Women’s Trust to support more young disadvantaged women into work. The number of young women using our free coaching service to identify their skills and boost their confidence is increasing significantly, and we are also giving more women advice on their job applications. We’re getting great feedback for the service and, with this money, we hope to help even more women.”

Sir Stuart Etherington, Chair of The Board of Trustees for The Patron’s Fund, said:

“The Patron’s Fund is very pleased to be able to support Young Women’s Trust with its valuable work. Young Women’s Trust is among hundreds of organisations for which The Queen acts as a Patron, which between them make a difference to causes and communities in the UK and throughout the Commonwealth.”
